My day job as Education Curator at WAAM never fails to inspire my studio work. This past week we had 250 plus kids come through the galleries to see their show, talk about art and make stuff. Because if the sheer numbers and the amount of time we would be together, the teacher/WAAM team decided to let the kids work with scratchboard. I was a little worried that it would be too simple, but the results were amazing. The kids were relaxed, played with line, and made wonderful shapes inspired by the work on display. I went home and worked with black painted paper, thinking about the kids work.
